Cape Town – Scores of people in Lesotho have reportedly gathered inside the National Stadium in Maseru for the inauguration of the incoming prime minister Pakalithi Mosilili.

According to the SABC, Mosilili will be sworn in by the chief justice in the presence of King Letsie the third and dignitaries from SADC member states.

Watch the video below.

Mosilili was Lesotho's prime minister between 1997 and 2012.

According to reports on social media, President Jacob Zuma has already arrived for the event.

Zuma is the chairperson of the SADC troika on politics, defence and security.

Deputy President and SADC facilitator Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in the mountain kingdom on Monday.

Mosilili's inauguration comes following elections held on 28 February.

The vote was held two years early in a bid to restore stability following the failed August putsch that highlighted friction between Lesotho's military and police.

The elections were described as credible, free and fair by the Commonwealth, the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union, and the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa observer missions.
