PIC: Mugabe's Zanu-PF 'ships in brand new cars worth millions of dollars for campaign'

Harare - Cash shortages don't seem to be hurting President Robert Mugabe's party, which is shipping in brand new cars worth millions of dollars for its campaign for the 2018 elections, reports say.

@Team ZANUPF Live posted a picture of a gleaming line-up of Ford Fiestas to its Facebook page late last week with the caption: "New kids on the block: 2018 here we come."

The cars have the Zanu-PF flag emblazoned on their bonnets.

Lesotho King Letsie III 'to seek help from his elder Mugabe' on elections – report

Harare – Lesotho's king Letsie III is apparently in Zimbabwe to consult President Robert Mugabe, 93, on how best his country can manage elections to end the turmoil that has continued to characterise the mountain kingdom, a report says.

According to News Day, top government officials said that Lestie, who was on a four-day state visit to Zimbabwe, wanted to get advice from the nonagenarian on how his country could manage its polls.

Lesotho was set to hold its general elections on June 3.

Air Zimbabwe banned from Europe... so is it safe for Mugabe to use?

Harare - Bad news for Zimbabwe’s national airline which is headed by President Robert Mugabe’s son-in-law: it has just has been barred from flying to Europe over safety concerns.

News of the ban, contained in a press release from the European Commission, will deal a blow to the struggling carrier’s plans to resume once-popular direct flights to London.

The European Commission maintains an Air Safety List of airlines that they say don’t meet international safety standards and are barred from operating in the European Union.

Woman 'kills' niece, 4, buries body in shallow grave behind 'rented house'

Bulawayo – Police in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe reportedly exhumed the body of a 4-year-old girl on Monday after she was killed and buried in a shallow grave by her aunt at a house she (aunt) rented.

According to the Chronicle newspaper, Gladys Sibanda, 42, allegedly killed Thandeka Moyo on December 09 last year.

Sibanda allegedly banged the girl’s head on the floor after she failed to throttle her to death.

Sudan's Bashir, wanted for war crimes, invited to Trump summit

Riyadh - Saudi Arabia has invited Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted for alleged war crimes, to a summit with US President Donald Trump and Arab and Muslim leaders, a Saudi official said on Wednesday.

"He [Bashir] is invited," the official told AFP without saying whether the Sudanese leader would attend the top-level talks on Sunday.

Christian sect attacks DRC prison, frees leader, 50 more

Kinshasa - Christian sect members stormed a prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo's capital on Wednesday, freeing the leader of their movement and 50 others, DRC's justice minister said.

Bundu dia Kongo movement leader Ne Mwanda Nsemi is now on the run after a 04:00 attack on the prison in Kinshasa, Justice Minister Alexis Thambwe Mwamba told local radio station TOP CONGO FM.

Nigeria: Too soon to close camps for Boko Haram's displaced

Maiduguri - Nigerian officials say their goal of shutting down all camps for people displaced by Boko Haram by the end of this month is no longer feasible as the military continues to fight the extremists in so-called liberated areas.

Borno state Governor Kashim Shettima says it is not yet safe to return people to their homes in many places across northern Nigeria.
