Kakamega - An 85-year-old woman in Kakamega County in Kenya is nursing wounds sustained after her step-grandson attacked and raped her inside her house.

The woman, who reportedly stayed alone, said the assailant gained entry through a hole he drilled on the wall of her house.

"I heard someone 'knocking' [drilling] on the wall. When I went to check, I found he had already entered into the house... Before I knew what was happening, he fell on me," narrated the granny.

According to NTV, the 40-year-old rapist also chocked and beat the elderly woman before making away with KES 7 000 cash and her radio.

She sustained various injuries on the back, stomach, face and neck but doctors said she was stable.

Female leaders in the area decried the increasing cases of gender based violence in the country.
