WATCH: Deadly floods hit Nigeria, '8 family members feared dead'

Abuja – At least eight family members were reportedly feared dead following a major flood disaster in Suleja town, Nigeria over the weekend.

According to Premium Times, eight members of a household were said to have died in the floods.

The report said that the head of the household managed to survive but his two wives and six children were not lucky.

Many people struggled to bale water out of their houses.

A BBC report said that several people were confirmed missing.

The downpour caused buildings to collapse, leaving occupants trapped.

Some residents were washed away while trying to leave their submerged homes.  

The Suleja disaster came at a time when the commercial capital, Lagos, is trying to cope with massive flooding caused by a week-long downpour.
