Murang'a - A 21-year-old teacher in Murang'a County, Kenya has been charged for using his mobile phone to solicit gay sex from a male journalist.

Geoffrey Mburu was arrested on Tuesday by plainclothes police who laid a trap for him.

The journalist said the teacher had been sending him seductive messages on his mobile phone, Citizen TV reports.

Appearing before Murang'a Murang'a Principal Magistrate on Wednesday, Mburu denied the charges and was released on KES 200 000 bond.

However, reports indicate that Mburu confessed to being gay and that he was in desperate need of a partner.

According to Daily Nation, Mburu is also a youth leader at a local church.
