Zim church predicts Mugabe victory

Leaders of the Apostle Church have predicted that President Robert Mugabe will be victorious in the upcoming elections. Watch.WATCH

Cape Town - Leaders from one of Zimbabwe's biggest churches have predicted a landslide victory for President Robert Mugabe in the forthcoming elections, after they received an ancestral prophecy, according to a report.

Prophets from the Apostle Church said the ancestors confirmed that Mugabe would be announced president of Zimbabwe, after voters go to the polls on a date yet to be announced.

The prophets according to eNCA claimed "a word has been claimed to us through the Spirits". We now know the winner of the next harmonised elections and it is president Mugabe".

The church leaders also said Mugabe's main opposition, Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, would no longer be the leader of his party, the Movement for Democratic Change.

Mugabe, 89, has in the past been described by many of his loyalists as the man chosen by God to lead Zimbabwe.

The veteran leader was himself quoted during his birthday in February as saying he had a "divine task" to lead Zimbabwe, shrugging off concerns about his health and fitness for office as he prepares for what could be one the closest election battles since he came to power in 1980.
