Cape Town – Zimbabwe's First Lady Grace Mugabe has reportedly told Zanu-PF supporters that she is "fit" to drive the ruling party's women's league agenda, following her return to the country after undergoing surgery in the Far East.
According to News Day, Grace arrived back in the country on Sunday accompanied by her husband President Robert Mugabe.
Mugabe apparently chartered an Air Zimbabwe plane to fly to the Far East to pick Grace up.
Grace revealed that the latest surgery to remove a nagging appendix was the third one after the first one in 1986 to remove tonsils and the second one in 1996 when she had gall bladder surgery.
A New Zimbabwe.com report said Grace insisted she was in "fine fettle".
The Mugabes left Harare for their annual holiday mid-December last year, with the president returning home without his wife on 22 January.
At the time, Mugabe apologised for extending his stay abroad while his wife was receiving medical treatment.
"I would like to say we are sorry, we took a long time away from home," he said addressing government, party officials and supporters gathered at the main airport to welcome him back.
"Mai [Mrs] Stop-It had pain in her side which was nagging her," Mugabe said, referring to his wife by her nickname.
