'Great man' Mugabe given Gaddafi gown

2012-03-09 12:40

Cape Town - A Kenyan traditional leader has described Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe as a "great man", before presenting him with a gown he said had once belonged to the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, the Daily News reported on Friday.

"We saw it fit to give this gown to President Mugabe which was given to us by Gaddafi before his death. We saw it fit to give it to Mugabe because he stands for Africans. Mugabe stands for African leaders and the rights of Africans as a whole.

"Gaddafi was a great African leader who wanted to have the United States of Africa," said Paul Kamlesh, national chairperson of the house of traditional leaders in Kenya

"As elders of Africa, we are now looking upon on Mugabe to lead us," Kamlesh said after presenting Mugabe with the gown during the official opening of the annual chief’s conference in Bulawayo.

According to the report, the chiefs’ conference gave Mugabe a platform to attack his Western enemies.

"Europeans killed Gaddafi, a man who had invested heavily in their economies and had become their friend," Mugabe said.

GREAT MAN MUGABE ??? BAWAHAHAHAHA. How great to completely destroy Zimbabwe !!!

      Kraken - 2012-03-09 12:51

I think that traditional leader was just old and confused. He probably thought it was Barack Obama or something.

      Doc - 2012-03-09 12:52

Yep, if great= destroying the economy, malnourished citizens, theft, murder intimidation etc. then Africa has been filled with "great leaders". In fact they have the greatest leaders of all time.

      Penny - 2012-03-09 13:02

      @pdolapse - you're a freakin comedian !!! BAWAHAHAHAHA

      Modefan - 2012-03-09 13:59

      Note to self....avoid Kenya

      Rob - 2012-03-09 14:21

Remember that traditional leaders aren't voted in democractically. They are autocractic and are petrified of elections because it means that there is a strong possibility they won't be able to live off the backs of others for the rest of his life while contributing almost nothing other than propaganda.

      Willie - 2012-03-09 14:55

Second hand gifts....eish Shefu they think you're a cheap skate!!

  • winston.mullany - 2012-03-09 12:49

      Sean - 2012-03-09 12:55

  • Ken - 2012-03-09 13:09

"Europeans killed Gaddafi, a man who had invested heavily in their economies and had become their friend," Mugabe said. And there was I who thought the Libyans finished him off when he refused to take up the offer from the West to retire there. Silly me.

      Isabel - 2012-03-09 15:32

I thought so too, Ken. We were obviously both mistaken.

  • Gavin - 2012-03-09 13:11

Hopefully he'll suffer the same fate as its previous owner...and soon.

  • Stan - 2012-03-09 13:28

  • Victor - 2012-03-09 13:31

  • Monique - 2012-03-09 13:34

Hooray!! May Mugabe also find death in that coat.

      david.lebethe - 2012-03-09 14:42

I suppose a similar fate that your forebearers went through - died in a coat and which it explains why you are still choked in it.

  • Kudakwashe Ian Muchingami - 2012-03-09 13:36

  • Clive - 2012-03-09 13:42

  • Justin - 2012-03-09 13:43

It was a gesture in lieu of the left over chicken wings Magabe had sent him 4 Christmas!

  • Steve - 2012-03-09 13:52

How ignorant you people all are, he has destroyed Zimbabwe, come on how many countries in the world do not even have their own currency. A country without money, its a joke.

  • Angela - 2012-03-09 13:55

Honour to the great sons of Africa. Those who sleep with the door open and yes , Mugabe and Gadaffi are on top of the list . They can kill them , break their bones but their legancy will resound on the hill tops of the African mountains !!!!! And the brightness ogf the African sun will reflect the blood shade . oooh yes MY AFRICA I LOVE ITS STRONG MEN .

      Trevor - 2012-03-09 14:35

      thank you. beautifully said.

      chris.welensky - 2012-03-09 14:38

Angela you are doing well in SA.. HEY! Director at a nice business. I m impressed. Just don't know how you did with a pea-brain!

      Isabel - 2012-03-09 15:24

Angela, you call that strength? You obviously really admire rapists then, because that's all these men (and I use the word loosely) are. You call brutality, thievery, and murder STRENGTH??? Grow up! The "great sons of Africa" are people like Mandela whose character is one of transparent honour. I feel sorry for you. You have a warped idea of reality and must have had some very poor role models. Go back and play with your dollies now, there's a sweetie. You obviously should not be allowed out.

      Isabel - 2012-03-09 15:25

...and go and live in Zim if you admire Mad Bob so much. We'll see how quickly you change your tune then.

      Clive - 2012-03-09 16:20

The legacy of "strong men" like Mugabe and Gaddafi (and many other Africans like them) is tyrrany, dictatorship, economic meltdowns, starvation and most definitely not freedom, prosperity and democracy. Is this the way you want Africa to be known?

  • Wilbert - 2012-03-09 13:55

Well Zimbabwe is not the only nation with idiots, we have plenty but it looks like Kenya has a few of its own. Anyone who calls a tyrant and murderer a "great man" is an idiot!

  • Gideon Keyser - 2012-03-09 13:58

These people have no brain cells. cant they see what mugabe did to Zim?

      JEDEGWA - 2012-03-09 16:03

Uncle Bob onlyreminded the Britons of the thatcher's Lancaster promises which Blair could not honour. Everyone brushes this bone of contention and talk about land grabbing and violence. I can see lots of eurocentric and civil socialistic brain wash

  • Willa - 2012-03-09 14:01

Does anybody know where Ghadaffi's Mickey Mouse watch is ? Joolius says he left it in his will for him.

  • William - 2012-03-09 14:03

What an idiot!!!! Mugabe should be shot and buried in a shallow grave!!!

      Trevor - 2012-03-09 14:48

a great and wise leader. Any one who does not realise that id a greater idiot

  • Kagiso - 2012-03-09 14:08

i hope the gown is 'cursed'

  • darryl.maze1 - 2012-03-09 14:09

Seriously these ppl do not have braincells. So they love dictators who will destroy a country, steal all the money, live a life of luxury and let the ppl starve. Then when there is nothing left and ppl are dying who the first ppl they go crying to the WEST. This guy and the rest of the brainless idiot are a waist of air. I just dont understand them.

  • Kerry - 2012-03-09 14:11

OH PUUUUUUUUUUUUUULEEEZ he must just die now and they can bury him in gaddafi's frock! f*&king freak

  • dklue - 2012-03-09 14:12

  • guyt1 - 2012-03-09 14:17

How can people be such sheep and worship this stinking affliction on humanity. Sorry but the mind boggles. Mugabe FRO

  • Magezi - 2012-03-09 14:29

It indeed took a great man to destroy zimbabwe. the kenyans are completely right. as for gaddafi, may his soul rest in peace

      Clive - 2012-03-09 18:57

Let's get this right: you are saying Mugabe's great because he destroyed Zim? And Gaddafi deserves the peace he denied his people?

  • Liam - 2012-03-09 14:40

    haha, joke's on him!

  • Morapedi Husnature Moremi - 2012-03-09 14:42

Mugabe is going to suffer the same fate as Gaddaffi, rulers make decisions that are in the best interest of the nation not them self,f?;+n prick

      Penny - 2012-03-09 14:46

      Amen brother!

  • david.lebethe - 2012-03-09 14:45

He indeed deserves it. He is, of course, the only voice of reason among all our leaders.

      Berthram Bowles - 2012-03-09 15:45

Well, why don't u go and join him and Gucci Grace then? I'm sure they'd just love to have a cup of tea with you.

      Brendon Robb - 2012-03-09 16:15

He does deserve it David , he deserves the same as what Gaddafi got , even more! Look at the state of Zimbabwe! People are starving because him! He is a dictator you idiot! Go join him!

  • Mathopa Coco Kgobe - 2012-03-09 14:50

hahahaha mugabe is the leader of drop pits toilets .....

  • Evan - 2012-03-09 15:24

Word on the street ... In Kenya... Is that Bob is up for a Nobel.... He can't have long to go now! I cannot think of another leader apart from a couple that are now 'late' that have stollen so much from the people who they have meant to represent and yet when he does pass on, we will only hear of mass mourning and how he was such a great man.

  • JEDEGWA - 2012-03-09 15:55

The great are always feared by the greatest. No one fears the weakest

  • Hasane - 2012-03-09 15:58

    Stupid chiefs

  • Nyiks11 - 2012-03-09 17:38

Mugabe has a very powerful army that can counter any NATO ground attack ,its a muti controlled swarm of bees . . . . Try him if you wanna see the real operation shock and awe

  • david.lebethe - 2012-03-09 18:00

@Berthram Bowles. Sounds like something from bowls isn't?! The fact, of the matter is that your people have been enjoying themselves at the expense of our people. You are today so previledged yet majority of our people still remain poor yet you and your kith oppose any efforts to transform their situtation. Mugabe is absolutely right to take away from whites what rightfully belongs to Zimbabweans.

  • thomas.mazibisa - 2012-03-09 18:17

    why come from Kenya?
