Stop abusing our people, Nigeria tells Zim

Cape Town - Nigeria has expressed concern over the ill-treatment meted on Nigerians in Zimbabwe, saying Nigerians constantly faced humiliation in their daily activities with immigration officials or other security agencies, it was reported on Wednesday.

According to NewsDay, Nigerian Senate President David Mark appealed to the Zimbabwean government to improve its hospitality to Nigerians and other foreigners living in the country.

He made the appeal when he hosted Zimbabwe's deputy prime minister Thokozani Khupe in Abuja on Tuesday.

In a statement signed by the chief secretary to Senate President Paul Mumeh, Mark reminded the government and people of Zimbabwe of the need to accommodate other nationals in the country.

"Nigeria will contribute towards ensuring that true democracy reigns in Zimbabwe," Mark was quoted as saying in the statement.

Tell your fellow Nigerians to be patriots and lets see who will abuse them.

Nigerians face discrimination worldwide. I read news the other day that they are crawling in Zimbabwe from SA in dozens to push their business over there, some are even fraudulently marrying Zim women just to acquire Zim citizenship to cement their stay over there and cut off immigration barriers. Nigerians are desperate, it's about time they sort their country out and stop polluting other countries.

In Malaysia, China and Lybia, Eastern Europe and Baltic countries Nigerians are slaughtered like chickens. Was shocked that they even go to Alaska and Iceland. What are they doing in these countries that majority do not communicate in English.. Nigerians are not afraid of anything.

      lorina.vaneeden - 2012-09-12 14:55

"majority do not communicate in English" ... huh?

      Alice - 2012-09-12 15:30

Yes Lorina the countries are mentioned are non- English speaking countries. Very few of their citizens speak fluent English. Majority of Polish,Lituanians, Latvians,Russians, Chinese etc struggle to even hold a 2 minute conversation in English.

Black Africans are bogged down by petty things, where you come from, your complexion and oh yes, the size of your whooper! Instead of embracing and harnessing our differences as an advantage, we are busy stopping he who looks different from succeeding. But his hunger, desire and ability to succeed are not diminished. He still needs to live like all of us and he will steal from us and we blame him and yet we made him. I have seen how easy it is for blacks to accept whites but blacks accepting blacks! Let the laws deal with the crooks, let the industries absorb the talented but above all, let's change our attitudes towards our own for that is the biggest enemy. Do not talk rubbish about Zimbabweans fighting for our land, who did not, that is a side show! By percentage and not number, there are potentially more Zimbabweans living outside our country than there are Nigerians, we also need the charities of our hosts.

SA citizens will gladly take Zimbabweans over Nigerians any day coz most of the time Nigerians have a small cellphone charger selling shop or similar in the cbd but they drive BMW M3s and Merc MLs from the cellphone chargers business-makes u think there is 'bigger drug or fraud related' business behind that shop while the vast majority of Zimbabweans are only looking for legitimate jobs to sustain themselves and their families back home or are here to buy or sell stuff legitimately so they can upkeep themselves.

I beg to differ on that one, I have never been violently attacked by Nigerians, that is not how they roll, but i have on two occassions been robeed at gun point by both zimbos and mozambicans. Atleast Nigerians are not viloent, i will take my chances with them any day.
