Zimbabwean opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has reportedly said that if he wins the forthcoming elections, his ministers won't be allowed to seek medical treatment outside the country.

According to The Standard, Chamisa said this while speaking to his supporters at Muchakata business centre over the weekend.

The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance presidential candidate said that there would be no ministers in his government who would go outside for medical attention while local hospitals were short of medicines.

"There is no minister who will be treated outside when hospitals are short of drugs, first put your house in order for everyone to benefit. They have houses out of Zimbabwe, [are] treated out of Zimbabwe [and] holiday out of Zimbabwe," Chamisa was quoted as saying.

Chamisa's remarks came a few days after he pledged that his government would create a $100bn economy within a decade and re-establish ties with Israel - a major foreign policy shift - if he won the elections.

He also promised a leaner government, more transparency and business-friendly laws.
