PHOTOS: Zimbabweans in Cape Town march against Robert Mugabe

Zimbabwe nationals marched to the Zimbabwean Consulate in Cape Town on Thursday to deliver a petition calling for President Robert Mugabe to step down.

Cape Town - Did President Robert Mugabe's son really mock Zimbabwe protest pastor Evan Mawarire on Instagram?

Looks like it.

Though it's never been confirmed by Zimbabwe's first family, Robert junior is widely believed to run the gxshxngo Instagram account. His more famous father's clan name is Gushungo.

A post from Thursday evening shows an often-used image of a fluffy white marmoset-type creature and the words: "Yo Evan so tune us.. Is there graft tomorrow or nah?" The account was suddenly locked this morning.

Mawarire called a strike for Wednesday and Thursday this week but not many heeded his call.
Analysts say that is partly because of threats from the authorities towards businesses and schools, and also because civil servants - who downed tools last week - were paid last Thursday and Friday. A strike on Wednesday last week drew more supporters.

This Instagram account was previously identified as belonging to Robert Mugabe junior when photos were posted allegedly showing his glamourous lifestyle in Dubai, where he has been studying. Also posted on the account are pictures of his sister Bona's wedding last year that could have only been taken by an insider.

Robert junior is a keen and well-respected basketball player but otherwise keeps a low profile.

His father has previously complained about his children's love for electronic gadgets.

Mawarire was released from police custody on Wednesday following his arrest a day earlier. A magistrate said his rights had been violated.
