Masvingo - A 7-year-old Zimbabwean girl, who was raped by her uncle, shocked her school teacher when she revealed her ordeal in a school essay, reports New Zimbabwe.

The young girl who lived with her grandmother, 70, and her rapist Tinashe Mashavira, 18, wrote about her devastating nightmare after being given a task to write an essay by her school teacher.

According to the prosecutor, Sophia Busvumani, sometime in November last year the accused went into a room where the young girl was sweeping, lifted her onto the bed, and raped her once.

After raping the young girl, the 18-year-old uncle threatened to kill her if she revealed the rape to anyone.

Mashavira pleaded guilty to the charge and was awaiting sentencing on April 26.

This came a day after  News 24 reported that lack of evidence led to the acquittal of a 95-year-old man who was accused of raping two of his neighbour's children.

Kennias Zvidza Mazvihwa was accused of raping the two girls, aged 4 and 6, while they were helping him with his homestead chores.
