Zimbabwe's newly appointed Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Minister Kirsty Coventry, 34, says she is expecting a child next year with her husband Tyrone Seward.

According to New Zimbabwe.com, the couple got married in January 2013 after Seward paid "lobola" to the Coventrys for the Olympic medallist, who had earlier said she wanted a traditional marriage.

The couple then exchanged their wedding vows in a private ceremony in Harare in August 2013.

Coventry was among 20 new cabinet ministers who were sworn-in by President Emmerson Mnangagwa during a public ceremony in Harare last week, reported the state owned Herald newspaper.

Mnangagwa delighted many Zimbabweans by naming the former Olympic champion swimmer as one of his ministers.
