031 Collection

2011-03-25 12:55

The glitz and glamour of the Durban July will come early this year for fashion designers and fashionistas when a massive new fashion show hits the city for three days in May.

The 031 Collection, which takes place from May 19-21, will include new and top designers in the field.

The winner among the newcomers will receive a cash prize of R20 000, an internship at Mr Price and an opportunity to design a range to be sold in selected Mr Price stores.

Top fashion designers who will show their creations on these three days include Terrence Bray, the Holmes Brothers, Leigh Schubert, Nguni Shade and Amanda Laird Cherry. All have strong links with the city and its fashion industry.

If you think you’ve got what it takes and are a vibrant, talented and young creative designer, this is your opportunity to excel and make a name for yourself.

The sizzling event caters for up-and-coming designers who are in the fashion industry studying toward a diploma in fashion. They should be aged between 18 and 26 years old.

Marketing director Louise Holmes said: “They will see their designs transformed into actual garments that will be sold in stores.”

Would-be Durban designers who think they have what it takes should submit a storyboard featuring six outfits, which can be either ladies or menswear.

Entries should include garment illustrations and mood direction with detailed technical drawings, as well as a written motivation letter.

The closing date for entries to this fashion show is 4 April. The event will be held at Moses Mabhida underground venue.
Tickets will be available at Computicket from next month.

Apiring entrants can email tiffany@dbn.icemodels.co.za or call 031 3096114.
