Twelve people were injured when two trains collided at the Berea Road Station in Durban today.

Two of the injured were the drivers of the trains, said Prasa’s KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson Isabel van der Westhuizen.

“They all suffered minor injuries,” she added.

The cause of the accident was unknown and would be investigated.

Paramedics said one passenger was critically injured while others sustained moderate injuries in the crash that occurred at about 8am.

The victims were treated on the scene and taken to various hospitals, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.
