14 injured in taxi accident

2010-10-26 08:54

Fourteen people were injured, five seriously, when the taxi they were travelling in collided with a car in central Durban this morning, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said the collision occurred at the junction of Stanger and Argyle roads.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the taxi had struck the car and then veered from the road, slamming into a traffic signal pole. It came to rest wedged against the pole,” he said.

The injured were treated and stabilised at the scene before being transported to hospital.

The cause of the accident was not yet known, said Wicks.
