200km/h man gets bail

A 22-year-old man arrested for clocking 200km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N4 highway appeared in the Brits Magistrates Court.

North West public safety department spokesperson Lesiba Kgwele said today Fardeen Mahomed was released on R1 000 bail when he appeared in court yesterday. The case against him was postponed to January 30, for trial.

Mahomed was arrested on New Year’s Day near Brits, when he allegedly clocked 200km/h on the speed camera set up by members of the North West provincial road traffic management unit in Bapong.

He was driving a BMW 330i from Sun City to Laudium in Pretoria.
