5 girls killed during basketball game

A wall at the side of a school basketball court has collapsed during a game, killing five girls and injuring two others in eastern China.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon in a middle school in Huaibei city after the teams surrounded a player with a sprained ankle, according to the Anhui provincial work safety bureau. A wall at the side of the court collapsed, burying some people under it.

The Huaibei city government said that police were investigating the cause of the incident and questioning school officials. It said that one of the injured was in stable condition and the other received minor injuries.
