A hijacking gone wrong

A 28-year-old man escaped unharmed after his car was shot at nine

times during an attempted hijacking in Glenvista, south of Johannesburg, police

have said.

“When he tried to get out of his yard in his car, four men pointed

guns at him,” said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele of the incident this


A shoot-out ensued between the hijackers and victim before the

gunmen sped off in another vehicle.

Patrolling police later found a silver grey BMW car abandoned in an

open space in Snake Park, Soweto, in which they found a body of a man with a

bullet wound in the chest.

Makhubele said the vehicle was used as the getaway car in the

attempted hijacking. Investigations revealed that it was reported stolen in
