ANC NGC: What to expect on day 2

2010-09-21 08:44

Delegates are preparing to start discussions on the second day of the ANC’s national general council (NGC) meeting in Durban.

Today’s programme will kick off with the outstanding part of yesterday’s programme, which was not completed because of delays in starting proceedings.

Yesterday afternoon, secretary general Gwede Mantashe presented his organisational report, followed by the financial report by treasurer general Mathews Phosa.

However, a presentation of organisational renewal by NEC member Fikile Mbalula could not be done because of time constraints.

Once Mbalula has presented to the plenary, the meeting then breaks into eight commissions dealing with issues ranging from organisational renewal and leadership selection to strategy and tactics and the reports by President Jacob Zuma and Mantashe.

Delegates were in high spirits as they queued to enter the conference venue, which is now a no-go zone for the media.

However, there will be a series of media briefings as the day goes on.
