ANC’s Durban membership dwindles

2012-04-24 07:10

Membership of the ANC’s biggest region in KwaZulu-Natal has fallen, eThekwini regional chairperson Sibongiseni Dhlomo has said.

Dhlomo, who is also the province’s health MEC, made the revelation at a dinner in Durban commemorating the party’s centenary yesterday.

He did not say how much membership had dropped and over what period, but the Witness newspaper reported on March 12 that membership for the region was almost 90 000.

Dhlomo said the party was seeking quality membership over quantity.

He urged delegates to exercise unity and discipline.

He said that while members might commit acts as individuals, if seen negatively, these would reflect on the party as a whole.

“Whatever you do, you must do to glorify the ANC,” he said.
