Absa Women Championships in Kimberley

2012-07-25 13:59

The 4th edition of the Absa Women’s League national championships will this year be held in the diamond city of Kimberley in the Northern Cape.

The launch and draw for the tournament was conducted this morning at the Safa House in Joburg.

The games in Kimberley will play from August 3 to August 9.

Speaking during the launch Absa representative Stewart Masela said that as sponsors they are happy to have produced some players who are representing the country at the London Olympic Games from tonight when Banyana Banyana take on Sweden.

“Four years ago when we launched this league on Valentines Day in Soweto we had the vision to promote the young female players to go all the way and play in the senior national team.

We want to see more players from the Absa Under-17 league play in the Under-17, Under-20 and Banyana Banyana.

“We already have three players in the Olympics team who have played in this tournament. On this note we wish all the teams in this tournament all the best,” said Masela.
