Alleged Oppikoppi drug dealers in court

2011-08-08 14:23

Five people accused of dealing in drugs at the Oppikoppi music festival in Limpopo have appeared in the Northam Magistrates Court.

The four men and a woman were denied bail and the case was postponed until August 17, said Lieutenant-Colonel Mohale Ramatseba.

He said they were arrested at different places and at different times during the festival, which is held every year on the Oppikoppi farm outside Northam.

They allegedly had in their possession ecstasy, magic mushrooms and dagga worth an estimated street value of R150 000. One of the men had R21 450 in cash on him.

The festival attracts almost 20 000 people every year.
