A man was attacked by members of the community after he allegedly raped a woman in her house in Orange Farm Extension One, south of Johannesburg today, Gauteng police said.

“The victim screamed and neighbours rescued the 28-year-old woman and the man was badly assaulted by the community before the police arrived,” Captain Johannes Motsiri said.

The incident took place in the early hours of the morning whereafter the 32-year-old man was arrested and a rape case opened.

“The suspect was taken to hospital for treatment as he was badly injured,” Motsiri said.

The man was currently under police custody in a local hospital and would appear in the Sebokeng Magistrates Court once he recovered from his injuries.?
