Alto Wine Estate paints the Cape winelands red & black

I’ve decided to retire in Stellenbosch, where I’ll spend the rest of my natural life drinking wine and eating every type of cheese I
can find.

Until that happens, I’ll have to settle for parties held at wine estates.  Recently, City Press and Alto threw the Cape Town leg of the Alto Red & Black Lounge parties at the Alto Wine Estate. It’s an injustice that the dictionary hasn’t included this party under the definitions of style and glamour.

There was fine cuisine on offer as some of the country’s shakers and movers arrived dressed in red and black. Included on the guest-list were some of the Western Cape’s top sommeliers, such as Pearl Oliver from Balthazar, Dominic Bowers from the Table Bay Hotel and Greg Mutambe from the Twelve Apostles Hotel.

The 25 couples invited were treated to an evening to remember at a venue with rich historical significance. Opulent red, black and gold décor, and live jazz bands added to the experience.

Later, the guests partied the night away with music provided by a DJ. That’s what I call the good life.
