The beauty of living in our country is that South Africans have every right to speak their minds, which is a luxury that many people take for granted.

While exercising our rights, it is important to remember that we are not isolated.

South Africa has a huge population from all walks of life who may or may not appreciate your comments to President Jacob Zuma.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with using a persuasive argument to get your point across. There is a problem, however, when you use your rights to force your opinions on another person in an offensive way.

After reading your open letter to the president, as a young person I felt ashamed and disgusted at the manner in which you insulted and disrespected the head of state.

I cannot even repeat the words you used because they do not sit well in my stomach. You might have raised valid points in your open letter, but all of that was clouded by your choice of words.

Some might praise you for that open letter, but to me it exposed how immature you are. It showed that you are still a boy who is seeking attention.

A word of advice to you, Mr Sushi Man: With freedom of speech comes great responsibility.
