Andile Lili critical after being shot outside home

2014-11-06 09:36

Ses’khona People’s Rights Movement chairperson Andile Lili is reportedly in a critical condition after being shot four times last night.

Community journalism project GroundUp reported that Lili, the leader of the controversial civil-rights organisation, was shot while sitting in a vehicle outside his home in Khayelitsha, Western Cape.

A Ses’khona spokesperson confirmed the incident.

A police spokesperson told GroundUp that Western Cape police are investigating the attempted murder of a 39-year-old male, and that the motive is unknown. No arrests have been made yet.

Eyewitness News reported that Lili’s condition was said to be critical.

EWN quoted Ses’khona spokesperson Sithembele Majova as saying the movement is devastated by the news, and also found it strange that the shooting happened on the eve of a planned march to Parliament and the ANC offices over the high rate of unemployment.
