A man has died after jumping off a building at the University of Pretoria today, police said.

Captain Colette Weilbach said he jumped around 8am.

The Brooklyn police had opened an inquest “but no foul play is suspected”, she said.

The SABC reported that the man was a lecturer at the campus but police could not immediately confirm his identity.

A body was removed from the roof of the Humanities building after 11am.

A source told News24 that it was a male student who killed himself but this could not be confirmed.

The incident is the second at the university in a matter of weeks.

Accounting lecturer Danny Nortjé-Rossouw plunged to his death from the same building on July 30 this year.
