A director of the Muaythai Against Drugs Foundation was arrested for possession of cocaine.
The Weekend Argus reported that Gary Trappler was arrested at the end of May and granted bail in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court.
The foundation was started in 2007 to help youngsters get off drugs and into muaythai, a form of martial arts.
Quentin Chong, a co-director of the foundation, told the newspaper he was shocked by the arrest.
“This is the first time we hear about this, when you called. I’m devastated by this,” he said.
Trappler is vice-president of the Muaythai Amateur body as well as the International Federation of Muaythai.
He is also president of Muaythai Professional.
