Baby dies, seven hurt in Jeep crash

2012-04-07 07:35

A baby was killed and seven people injured in a single vehicle accident on the N12 in Springs, east of Johannesburg.

The driver of a Jeep lost control of the vehicle after the Groenfontein/Croydon off-ramp yesterday afternoon, ER 24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said today.

“There may possibly have been some form of mechanical failure to the vehicle, which caused the driver to lose control and the vehicle then left the road and rolled a number of times. The 14-month-old baby had already died at the scene due to the extensive nature of injuries sustained.”

Jackson said the seven people were treated on the scene before they were transported to nearby hospitals.
