Baby found in rubbish bin

2011-11-18 09:15

A newborn baby boy was found dumped in a rubbish bin near Pietermaritzburg, in Kwazulu-Natal, paramedics said today.

Residents heard the infant’s cries and made the discovery in Plessislaer, in the Edendale area, last night, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.

The bin was on the street next to a house and the baby was covered with a blanket. Banks said the baby, believed to be about two days old, was cold and wet as it was raining.

Paramedics examined the baby on the scene and found nothing wrong with his health, Banks said. He was taken to the Edendale Hospital.
