Bafana eye hat-trick of victories in Brazil

After winning two of their three training games in Brazil, Bafana

Bafana are hoping to continue with their fine form when they meet Cruzeiro in

Belo Horizonte this evening (01.45am SA time tomorrow morning).

Carlos Parreira’s side is yet to concede a goal after three outings

in which they scored a whopping 10 goals.

But they are bracing themselves for a tough encounter against the

local favourites who have promised to send the South Africans packing.

Bafana opened their month-long camp in Brazil with a disappointing

goalless draw against Volta Redonda last Saturday, but bounced back with a

resounding 8-0 victory over a second-string side Fluminense a day later.

They continued with their fine scoring form by beating Boavista 2-0

on Monday with Simphiwe Tshabalala and Lebohang Mokoena on the score

But Bafana assistant coach Jairo Leal has cautioned the team to

prepare themselves for a difficult game.

He said he expected Cruzeiro to offer more resilience than the

previous three games.

“They have always done well in domestic tournaments and I am sure

they will give us a good game. We need stronger oppositions now because the

players have settled well,” said Leal.

The Brazilian said the players had responded well to the tight

training schedule, and already there were signs of improvements.

He said the training games had given the players the confidence

they needed and were looking forward to tonight’s game.
