Bafana Bafana will be looking for revenge when they play Mali in the second game of the African Nations Championship at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Kickoff is at 5pm.

Mali knocked Bafana out of last year’s Africa Cup of Nations but the hosts will get a chance to avenge that defeat.

After they both won their opening games against Mozambique and Nigeria respectively, a victory for either side will almost guarantee them a place in the knockout stages of the tournament. Bafana are top of the group on goal difference.

Midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi said they are aware of what lies ahead against Mali.

He said they have been studying their videos and was convinced they would get the better of them.

“We are ready for them because we know what to expect. They are physically strong but we will compete,” said the Bidvest Wits captain.

“We have been watching their game and they are quite a threat. They are a good team, without a doubt, but they are beatable. We have studied them and we know what to expect. It will be a tough game for us but we are confident of doing well,” said Vilakazi, who is looking to establish himself in the national team.

He said their victory over Mozambique on Saturday has boosted their confidence ahead of Wednesday’s game.

“It was important for us to get a good start and we want to build on to that. We are motivated to win.”

Vilakazi said he wanted to establish himself in the team and said he was looking forward to a good tournament.

He was, however, not completely impressed with his performance against Mozambique and was looking at improving his game.

“I will take it one game at a time and see how it goes. I have a chance to settle in the team on the international stage and the challenge for me is to improve my performance. I know I could do better.”
