Bafana help design own home kit

THE Bafana Bafana technical suppliers Adidas on Wednesday launched

the South African national football team’s home jersey which they will wear

during the 2010 World Cup.

Bafana players will wear the jersey for the first time on Saturday

when they face Japan at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, the

Eastern Cape.

The jersey comes in two versions – the techfit and formotion. They

will both be available in short and long sleeve versions.

Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena, who sampled the jersey at the launch,

applauded the new design saying it felt good.

Mokoena said the national team players had a say on what the final

design, look and feel should be like.

But not everyone was happy with the design. Former Kaizer Chiefs’

midfield maestro Isaac “Shakes” Kungoane said he thought it was a training


“They could have come up with something better than this and it

shows that our players have no taste. I am really disappointed in their choice,”

said Kungoane.
