Bafana match will be broadcast after all

2011-10-05 09:50

The SABC will broadcast Bafana Bafana’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone on Saturday.
This comes after sports minister Fikile Mbalula’s intervention.

At a hastily arranged meeting Safa and the SABC agreed to work together going forward.

In terms of the agreement the public broadcaster will pay Safa R3 million and the association will in turn fork out R1.2 million towards the production of the match.

The two parties will meet again to map the way forward regarding future matches.

They also agreed to go together to meet SportsFive – the French-based company who are Caf’s long-term broadcast right holders – to negotiate for away matches.
