Bafana screened for Ebola in Congo

2014-10-10 08:54

Immediately after touching down at Pointe-Noire International Airport in Congo after a four-hour flight from Johannesburg yesterday afternoon, Bafana Bafana were screened for Ebola.

But this did not deter the South Africans, who were in high spirits going into tomorrow’s game

Unlike 17 years ago when they were welcomed by gun-wielding soldiers, Bafana were well-received by a handful of locals who promised Bafana a 2-0 victory in the all-important Africa Cup of Nations qualifier tomorrow.

The supporters who greeted Bafana were disappointed that their favourite, Siphiwe Tshabalala, was not part of the team. They were calling Tshabalala’s name and were hoping to catch a glimpse of him.

Since his opening goal of the 2010 Fifa World against Mexico, Tshabalala has been a hit with supporters on the continent.

Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba was also in a confident mood and declared the team was ready for the game.

The team will have a chance to train at the match venue this afternoon after which Mashaba is expected to announce the captain and his starting line-up.
