Bafana Bafana striker Katlego Mashego believes the team has what it takes to win the CAF African Nations Championship (Chan), which begins on Saturday. Bafana will open their campaign against Mozambique at the Cape Town Stadium, and Mashego said the team was ready to make the country proud. The Mamelodi Sundowns striker said they were determined to go all the way to the final and lift the trophy. “It feels great to be back in the team and I am looking forward to a good tournament. The most important thing for us is to win our first game and I am hopeful we are going to do that,” said Mashego, who last played for the team in the Cosafa tournament in July last year. He said Chan 2014 presented him and other players with a chance to showcase their talent, and he hoped to grab the opportunity with both hands. “We are taking this tournament seriously because it gives us a chance to shine in front of our home supporters. We always want to do well, be it in a friendly or a tournament like this, and we want to do it for the country. We know what is expected of us and also know what we need to do to win the tournament.” Mashego said he wanted to cement his place in the team. He is likely to partner with Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker in the team’s attack.
