Bafana wait on Central Africa venue

2013-04-24 08:48

The Central African Republic (CAR) will confirm the venue for the upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana by the end of the week.

According to the Football411 website, security concerns in the capital city of Bangui has seen Fifa move the Group A clash to a neutral venue, although the arena is still to be announced by the country’s footballing body.

“The Central African Republic Football Federation is currently finalising the match arrangements. We should receive the details by the end of this week,” a Fifa media spokesperson said yesterday.

The two sides will square up on June 7, with South Africa looking to take away top spot in the group from Ethiopia, who currently lead Gordon Igesund’s men by two points, while the CAR are in third, a further two points off the pace after three matches each.
