Bafana without Modise, Mphela

2011-02-03 13:53

True to his word Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has dropped star midfielder Teko Modise from the team that will play Kenya on Wednesday.

Mosimane has also omitted Katlego Mphela from the team after the Mamelodi Sundowns striker went Awol.

There was also no space for Macbeth Sibaya, as he has not kicked a ball since the end of the Russian league in November last year.

However, Mosimane has kept the core of the team with only one new recruit and four players from the Bafana pool.
Bidvest Wits’s exciting midfielder Sifiso Myeni is the only newcomer to the team.

“Four players were recalled from our ‘database’, and named one new player. We’ve acknowledged a few players who have been doing well at their clubs, week in and week out,” said Mosimane.

He said he would take the friendly game seriously as it was the last game before the must-win match against Egypt in the African Cup of Nations qualifier next month.

The absence of reliable left back Tsepo Masilela due to injury has opened doors for Golden Arrows’ Mzivukile Tom and Orlando Pirates’ Ruben Cloete.
