2011-07-05 14:30

Madrid – European champions Barcelona confirmed today that the contract of winger Pedro had been extended for one more year, until 2016.

In addition, his buyout clause, which is required under Spanish law, has been increased from €90 million (R877 million).

The winger, whose full name is Pedro Rodriguez Ledesma, is one of several youngsters brought into the Barça squad when Josep Guardiola took over as coach in 2008.

He came off the bench as a late substitute when Barça beat Manchester United in the 2009 Champions League final, and scored the first goal in the this year’s final against United.

Pedro (23) was part of the Spain team which won the World Cup last year.
