Battered Randburg baby serious but stable

The toddler who was severely beaten during a house robbery in

Randburg, Johannesburg, this week is in a serious but stable condition in an

intensive care unit.

Sandton Medi-Clinic spokesperson Liezel Furlong said: “Her

condition has not changed ... It is still serious, but stable.”

Both the girl and her caretaker, Francina Sekhu, had suffered head

injuries during the incident on Thursday.

Sekhu is being treated at the Helen Joseph Hospital.


Citizen newspaper quoted hospital spokesperson Lovey Mogapi as saying

that Sekhu was slowly recovering. However, she said Sekhu did not remember the


Police spokesperson Colonel Eugene Opperman said no arrests had

been made. A laptop and modem were reportedly stolen from the home.
