Being local pays dividends

2012-05-02 14:20

There are many cars being built in South Africa, but seldom does it mean these products are cheaper than imported ones.

Finally, being local is “lekker” as General Motors South Africa (GMSA) announces a price cut.

GMSA has announced the commencement of shipping to dealers of the South African-built Chevrolet Spark. With this manufacturing milestone for the Port Elizabeth-based company, comes good news of the pricing structure.

GMSA’s Malcolm Gauld said in the spirit of the freedom that South Africa marks with the celebration of Freedom Day he was happy to announce a realigned pricing structure with a meaningful reduction in price for their popular Chevrolet Spark coupled to the shipping of the locally-produced model.

“The new price for the entry level model Spark is now R107 500, a reduction in price of 7%. For those that want to go a bit more up market with their trim level and upgrade to the Spark LS, this model now retails for R116 500, a saving of 9.7% over the imported model,” said Gauld.

And if you want to soup up your little Spark thanks to the savings, there’s an optional Sports Kit available for the Spark LS for an extra R3 000 and for some fancy wheels, there’s another option.
