Blaque dinner

I am not one for formal events, so when an invite says formal or chic I always get lost in the spaces between because I rarely own anything too formal or businesslike.

But I made an effort for the Blaque magazine networking dinner that was hosted at Benmore Gardens Centre in Sandton at the posh restaurant, Metro.

The event, which was meant to be about networking and getting to meet players in media and business, started on time and most of the guests did stick to being chic.

Spotted Supersport presenter Mpho Maboi, who was rolling solo on the night. Though she wore blue jeans, Maboi paired them with a grey shirt and grey jacket that made her look like a businesswoman.

Motswako presenter Penny Lebyane played it safe in a classic black trenchcoat and knee-length boots, while MetroFM’s Azania Masoko nee Ndoro, rocked a purple three-quarter dress which she styled with some gold jewellery.

Others who were there were socialite and businesswoman Uyanda Mbuli, The Wild actor Tumisho Masha and socialite TT Mbha. Sisanda and Bonnie Henna were also there.

Masha, who was also the master of ceremonies on the evening, was all smiles when asked about his stint on The Wild.

“I guess I look young enough to play such a role on the show but I am totally enjoying it, I won’t lie,” he said.

Another pretty face there was Black Coffee’s wife, actress Mbali Mlontswa-Maphumulo, who looked beautifully trimmed in a black knee-length dress for someone who had given birth only about two months ago.

After a brief speech from the editor of Blaque magazine, Monwabisi Thethe, guests were treated to a variety of wines and cognac, cigars and snacks such as barbeque chicken wings, ribs, chicken livers, salads and loads more.

For those who had had a hard day at work, there was a massage area that offered head and shoulder massages for those who were keen.
