Blue Bulls murder plotter pleads guilty

2011-11-14 12:37

The woman accused of conspiring to kill Blue Bulls rugby player Deon Helberg pleaded guilty today.

Amanda Reyneke (47) allegedly hired two men to kill Helberg after he broke off their relationship.

Helberg had also been involved with Reyneke’s 21-year-old daughter Jalien.

The court heard previously how she threatened the two Nigerian men she allegedly hired, saying she would “find someone else in Centurion” if they did not kill Helberg.

She was arrested by the Hawks at the Value Mart shopping centre in Pretoria last year, after she allegedly handed money to the Nigerians, believing they had killed Helberg.

The two “hitmen” worked with the police to catch her and showed her a staged picture of Helberg lying in a pool of blood as proof that they had done the deed.

The court was adjourned after Reyneke’s plea. Proceedings were expected to resume later today.

Reyneke’s daughter Jalien was in court when she pleaded.
