Bobby wants R50k bail

2012-08-16 10:49

Kaizer Chiefs boss Bobby Motaung has told the Nelspruit Regional Court this morning that he could afford bail of R50 000.

Motaung and his business partner in Lefika Emerging Equity, Herbert Thelebi, appeared in court in connection with alleged fraud and forgery of tax documents to win a multimillion-rand Fifa World Cup tender.

Lefika was involved in the design of the Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit.

A third accused, Lefika chief executive Chris Grib, was still on his way to court from Cape Town, where he was arrested yesterday.

Advocates representing Motaung and Theledi have told the court they would be able to pay bail of R50 000 each.

They claim that they have businesses in the country and have children and dependents, which would prevent them from fleeing.

Theledi earns R150 000 per month while Bobby earns a fixed monthly income of R100 000 and about R60 000 from shares.

The bail application continues.
