Bolivian man arrested for cocaine worth R600k at King Shaka airport

A 31-year-old man was arrested at the King Shaka International Airport in Durban for possession of cocaine with a street value of R600 000.

Captain Thulani Zwane of the KwaZulu-Natal police said the man was arrested yesterday.

“The Bolivian man, who was on a flight from Brazil via Dubai, was arrested when he arrived at 5pm.”

Zwane said the police and customs officials had already received information the drugs were en route to Durban.

“The suspect was identified and intercepted. His luggage was searched and officials found two parcels containing 2kg of cocaine with a street value of approximately R600 000.”

He was arrested and charged with dealing in drugs. He was due to appear in the Verulam Magistrates’ Court today.
