Boy accused of stabbing teacher back home

2011-03-18 14:26

The 14-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed a PJ Simelane High School teacher was released today, police said.

“The case was not placed on the court roll as we still need information from the teacher who is still in hospital,” Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

He said the boy was placed in the care of his parents.

It was alleged that the boy was loitering when the teacher confronted him asking him to accompany her to his class teacher.

The boy stabbed the woman in the stomach before they could reach the class teacher.

He then fled and was later arrested in Dobsonville yesterday afternoon.

He faced a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The teacher was in a stable condition in the Tshepo-Themba private hospital.

His court appearance date would be set once the teacher was discharged.
