Brickz rape case postponed

2014-01-09 11:28

The Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court has postponed the rape case of award-winning kwaito musician Brickz to March 6.

This was in order to grant the state a opportunity to obtain an assessment report from the Teddy Bear Clinic, which has been providing counselling to the alleged rape victim.

Brickz, whose real name is Sipho Ndlovu, was arrested in September last year for allegedly raping a teenager at his Ruimsig house, west of Joburg.

He was released on R50 000 bail by the South Gauteng High Court after spending at least a month in jail.

Ndlovu turned to the high court after the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court refused him bail and ruled that he was not only a flight risk but would also intimidate state witnesses and interfere with police investigations.

After the case was postponed, Brickz, who was dressed in a black blazer, a sky blue shirt, blue pants and black and blue sneakers shook hands with a group of fans who gathered outside the court. He then sped off in a white VW Polo.
