The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed September 24 as the date for the official draw for the CAF Under-23 championship.

The draw will be conducted in Cairo, Egypt, and the event takes place from November 26 to December 10.

South Africa is one of the eight participating nations in the tournament that will serve as the Olympic Games qualifiers.

Other qualified countries are Egypt, Algeria, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Morocco, Nigeria and Senegal.
The teams will be divided into two groups of four and will play on a round-robin basis with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals.

The top three-placed teams automatically qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games while the fourth-placed team will meet a team from Asia in a play-off.
