Caf to announce cup hosts

2011-01-27 09:26

Africa’s football confederation will decide on the host countries for the 2015 and 2017 Africa Cup of Nations at a meeting of its executive committee on Saturday.

Caf says South Africa and Morocco, the only two countries bidding, will make their final presentations to the continent’s governing body in Congo.

Caf President Issa Hayatou will then announce the hosts.

Each country is expected to be given one of the tournaments – Caf just needs to decide in what order – after Congo withdrew from the race last year citing problems with its infrastructure.

South Africa and Morocco have both hosted Africa’s continental championship once.

South Africa won on home soil in 1996 for its only title.

Morocco staged the 1988 tournament.
